A Post From the Past–But You’re Still My Passion

By | August 3rd, 2016|An Agent's Life, Front Page, Inspiration, Rancho Palos Verdes|

Elephants I photographed in Africa. I wrote this article back in 2012 when short sales and foreclosures were finally beginning to fade into the history books.  Thank heavens, those are gone, but my passion for helping my clients find the right home for them is as strong as ever.  Markets change, but my loyalty to my clients is steadfast.   BY NORMA TOERING BROKER FOR PALOS VERDES AND BEACH CITIES Real Estate Broker/Owner with Charlemagne International Properties BRE# 01147470 As consciousness returns to my being after a restful night's sleep, I savor those first few moments of wakefulness [...]

Sold By Toering and Team of Charlemagne Properties

By | May 30th, 2015|An Agent's Life, Buyer Tip, Front Page, Inspiration, Los Angeles Luxury Homes, Palos Verdes, Rancho Palos Verdes|

Charlemagne Int'l Properties represented the buyer in the sale of this charming Pasadena home. The buyer requested we represent her as a result of her positive experience with us when she purchased a Rancho Palos Verdes beach cottage. She said she met and tried working with other agents, but we set the bar high and she appreciated our guidance. Yes, the experience of selling or buying real estate can be overwhelming at times.  Let me borrow and paraphrase from Allstate,  "It's nice to know you're in good hands."  We appreciated the kind words and were delighted for the opportunity to [...]

Why I Blog

By | May 11th, 2015|An Agent's Life, Buyer Tip, Front Page, Inspiration, Los Angeles, Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Rancho Palos Verdes, Seller Tip|

Yes, I'm the barefoot blogger! I like to blog early before my day fills up with appointments and my mind is preoccupied with other demands and details that must be handled. My real estate blogging career began in 2007, and I've written more than 4000 articles about real estate in the South Bay of Los Angeles.  I do it for future, present and past clients, but I find it an excellent way to keep our fingers on the pulse of the local real estate market. I maintain several niche blogs as well as our website and our oldest blog, Palos [...]

By | May 7th, 2015|Buyer Tip, Favorite Photos - Palos Verdes, Featured Posts, Inspiration, Los Angeles Luxury Homes, Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Rolling Hills Estates, Seller Tip|

Reasons People Want to Live in Palos Verdes: 1)  Few places on earth are more beautiful.   2)  The Palos Verdes Unified School District is one of the top public school systems in California.   3)  It is located in Los Angeles County, and is close to all the urban conveniences, but is a coastal retreat far from the hustle and bustle of city life.   4)  The climate provides many days of sunshine, a few of rain, but snow is a rare occurrence.   5)  The coastal location provides easy access to beaches.  The Palm Springs desert towns are [...]

Stop the Car!

Those were my words when we rounded a curve and this view popped into my line of vision on a glorious view day in Palos Verdes.  We simply had to park the car and capture the view. Views are an integral part of the Palos Verdes lifestyle, and it's not hard to understand why once you are treated to sights like this view of the Queen's Necklace.  The curve of the land where water meets sand and is greeted by twinkling city lights is such a bejeweled vision it earned the name of Queen's Necklace.  It is certainly ranked among [...]

Top 5 Reasons to Love Living in Palos Verdes, CA

By | February 20th, 2015|An Agent's Life, Buyer Tip, Featured Posts, Inspiration, Lifestyle in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles Luxury Homes, Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Palos Verdes View Homes, Rancho Palos Verdes|

I wrote the original version of this article back in 2008--some things change and others remain the same.  Even though I've gone on to expound in-depth about the Palos Verdes lifestyle with my article 100 Reasons to Call Palos Verdes Home, the original 5 still top my list. Original article as written January 2008: I was recently asked by a soon-to-be resident what I like best about living in Palos Verdes.  My answer was not as concise and to the point as I would have liked.  Later, I found myself thinking about the very legitimate question and here's my list: [...]

The Importance of Pausing Throughout the Work Day

By | January 29th, 2015|An Agent's Life, Front Page, Inspiration, Lifestyle in Palos Verdes|

I recently read a terrific article, Huffington Post I think, about the importance of taking mini breaks throughout the work day.  It seems sitting for hours can shorten your life, stifle your creativity and increase the likelihood of gaining weight.  Not to gloat, but I was right about red wine and chocolate being good for you, and it seems my preference for the up and down, in and out lifestyle of a real estate agent might be good for me as well. My stints at office work were short and thankfully so.  I'm not good at sitting still hour after [...]

My Mother and Her Horse–Throwback Thursday

By | November 13th, 2014|An Agent's Life, Front Page, Horse Property, Inspiration|

This photo is definitely taking a spot of honor on my "PV Horse Property" blog!  A school chum of my mother sent it to my oldest sister and she shared a copy with me.  I've never seen the photo before so what a treat! She's not dressed for riding, and it was Missouri, not Palos Verdes, but how very cool she wanted to include Charlie in the photograph with her.   No date on the photo but looks very 1929-1930ish to my eyes.  This is one for the wall!   For information on Palos Verdes horse property contact Charlemagne [...]

Wealth Direction–What’s Yours?

By | October 7th, 2014|An Agent's Life, Front Page, Inspiration, Lifestyle in Palos Verdes, Lifestyle in the Beach Cities, Los Angeles Luxury Homes, Palos Verdes|

I'm no feng shui expert, but I did hear one speak last week at a global real estate conference.  In the past I've taken feng shui classes and read several books to better understand how it  may affect my clients' decision when purchasing or selling a Palos Verdes or South Bay home in the Los Angeles area.  I never gave much thought to how it might apply to my life on a more personal level. Most of the speaker's time was spent discussing how to overcome potential issues some properties may present to feng shui practitioners.  At the end of her presentation [...]

Moving from Summer to Fall in Palos Verdes–Contrasts in Color

By | September 3rd, 2014|An Agent's Life, Front Page, Inspiration, Lifestyle in Palos Verdes|

Autumn is a subtle season in Southern California.  After living here for several years I decided to pay less attention to the calendar's proclamation of its arrival, and more attention to the signs and signals from Mother Nature.  Since Jack Frost is an infrequent visitor we do not receive the brilliant vegetation colors that follow a first frost. As a matter of fact, September often feels more like summer and our coat-free days can last well into December. A lone leaf from a deciduous tree on the constant green (as long as its watered) lawn offers up an early sign [...]
