If you are in the mood to saddle up your horse and go for a leisurely ride you might want to consult the Palos Verdes Peninsula Horsemen's Association Trail Guide.  It is the only complete guide to the equestrian trails of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  Maps feature all of the equestrian trails superimposed on an aerial map. The PVPHA Guide sells for $20, plus tax, and includes an equine service directory.  The Trail Guide may be purchased at the General Store in Rolling Hills Estates, plus tack and feed stores or you may order it from PVPHA, P.O. The 94-acre parcel of vacant land that stretches along the bluff above Palos Verdes Drive South in Rancho Palos Verdes received the city's Planning Commission's blessing for a 9-hole golf course, an organic farm and possible future vineyard.  Oh, yes there will be new homes too!  Ground breaking construction is set to begin this week. The parcel, known as the Point View Tract, will also have an event garden and greenhouse.  It sounds like an idyllic development and I already know the location is one of the most beautiful on the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula.  It is just minutes from Terranea Resort and [...]

The Sounds of Palos Verdes

One of the greatest pleasures of living the coastal lifestyle in Palos Verdes is the close proximity to the ocean.  Yes, I was out walking on the beach on New Year's Day.   The sun was shining but I must admit I was bundled up in a light jacket as it was only 53 degrees--pretty nippy for Southern California.  I know all you snowbirds have no sympathy for me...   I hope 2013 will be a wonderful year for you.  May it bring you good health, prosperity and much joy.  If your 2013 plans include changes to your real estate [...]

The Journey to Your New Front Door

By | June 30th, 2012|An Agent's Life, Front Page, Inspiration, Los Angeles Luxury Homes, Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Drive South, Palos Verdes View Homes, Rancho Palos Verdes|

The journey from prospective buyer to inserting the key in your new front door can be short and sweet (somewhat rare) or rather long with many twists and turns (more common since The Great Financial Fiasco of 2008).  There are always a few war stories, and they often get better with each retelling, created along the path to homeownership.  Great friendships are also one of the many side benefits. A two and one half-year search culminated yesterday when I passed the key to two people my son and I met as strangers (Josh met them at an open [...]

3 Seller Tips for a Successful Sale

By | June 18th, 2012|Favorite Photos - Palos Verdes, Front Page, Palos Verdes Drive South, Palos Verdes View Homes, Seller Tip|

The sellers I work with are smart and savvy.  They know today's real estate market is challenging.  They are adapting to the new rules of real estate with a shift in attitude, increased market knowledge and by playing their property's trump card with pride.  Today's sellers know the market is white-hot for homes properly presented and priced, but homes lacking either are not connecting with today's buyers.  Three tips to help sellers connect with prospective buyers in today's real estate market:     1)  Shift your mindset:  Pack your emotions away.  You are now a seller and that requires a [...]

Your Assignment, Should You Want a House, Is to Have a Sit-Down with a Lender

By | June 17th, 2012|Front Page, Palos Verdes Drive South, Palos Verdes Luxury Homes, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Palos Verdes View Homes, Rancho Palos Verdes|

I have some wonderful friends who love to look at houses.  Notice I did not refer to these very lovely people as prospective buyers, although they may be, because they simply refuse to complete the pre-approval process with a lender.  Oh, they've had the pre-qualification conversation, and I know what they make and I have a rough idea of what they can afford, but come on, if you want to buy a house don't risk losing the one you want because you are not sure you can afford it.  Get thee to a lender ASAP. It is really [...]

Why I Chose Palos Verdes 24 Years Ago

By | June 14th, 2012|Buyer Tip, Favorite Photos - Palos Verdes, Featured Posts, Inspiration, Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Drive South|

It was late December 1988.  My family and I lived in a gorgeous 1920s home with a guest house and tropical pool in the Old Northeast section of St. Petersburg, Florida.  My four children were happily ensconced in a top rated private school. I was one of the founding member of the Ballet Society, and life was humming along in the happy lane.  Naturally, it was time to move. I was a reluctant house hunter. I thought Los Angeles was a fun place to visit, not to live.  As the jet approached the Los Angeles area the [...]

Portuguese Bend Beach in Rancho Palos Verdes

By | May 31st, 2012|Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes|

Portuguese Bend Beach is not readily accessible; entrance is either through the private gated community of the Portuguese Bend Beach Club with a 24 hr. guard, or a hike from Trump National Golf Course that includes traversing down a rather steep bluff.  Once there, you will be enchanted with this little strip of sandy beach.  The waves are strong and wash ashore rocks, driftwood and other treasures from the sea.  Seashells are far and few in between, but once in a while you will be gifted with a beauty. The true wonder is found in the assault on the senses.  The sound of the waves, [...]

Bench at the Beach in Rancho Palos Verdes

By | May 2nd, 2012|An Agent's Life, Favorite Photos - Palos Verdes, Front Page, Palos Verdes Drive South|

It was a productive month for this Palos Verdes real estate broker/agent (read that as lots of hours on the job) and when one area of life claims more of your time another area is in danger of getting short-changed. Balance is such a fluid state.   I am no slouch when it comes to seizing the moment. Monday I saw an opening in my schedule and filled it with a 90-minute walk on my favorite stretch of beach and hiking trails in Rancho Palos Verdes.  After hiking the hills surrounding Trump National Golf Course (both the climb and the [...]

Portuguese Bend Beach in Rancho Palos Verdes

I recently read 65% of the population perfers to see it rather than read about it.  When it comes to views on the Palos Verdes Peninsula I am certainly with the 65%.
