A few days ago I walked my favorite hiking path along the bluffs high above the Pacific Ocean in Rancho Palos Verdes. I found the above sign ripped from the post and tossed along the hiking path. Vandalizing and littering are both unbecoming traits to exhibit, especially along our pristine and fragile coast, even if you are unhappy about the recent reversal by the Rancho Palos Verdes officials regarding the dog beach that once was and is no longer.
The positive outcome of the decision, based only on my personal observation, is I saw no dogs roaming free on the trails or golf course and I felt much safer on my walk than in the months proceeding when encountering a dog with its owner yards away was becoming the norm.
Unfortunately, someone decided to rip the sign from the entrance to the trail down to the beach without any concern for other pet owners who may take their pet to the beach without knowledge about the decision reversal.
